Once Again...

...it seems as if other aspects of my life are taking over and I'm left with no time for blogging. That especially sucks, because I have a bunch of ideas for my blog that I'm really looking forward to. However, it seems as if I have no time due to the fact that I'm working 2 jobs a total of 6 days a week, and taking 15 units of college classes that I have to attend 5 days a week. Unfortunately, those three responsibilities overlap and I don't have a full day off. I'm either working, going to school, or both on any given day. Hopefully things will slow down and I'll have more time to blog.

Safari Sexy

I JUST got my Safari Sexy kit by Too Faced in the mail, and I'm really excited about it!

I'm loving Too Faced! And how cute the Safari Sexy kit is.

This picture from Ulta.com is very misleading. The tote is HUGE! I'd say about 18"x18", but I have horrible depth perception. The Mini Flatbuki brush is really small. It's the same size as the deluxe sample Shadow Insurance (the blue tube in the picture), about 2 inches tall. The brush is really incredibly soft though. The Mood Swing lip gloss smells really yummy, like Sunkist gummy fruit snacks. I'm really intrigued by the claim on the package that it "turns from clear to your perfect shade of pink." The Lava Gloss eyeliner comes in brown, which I'm glad about. Ulta didn't specify whether it came in black or brown, so I thought I'd clear that up. The dual eye shadow is really pretty, but it smells funky. The Lash Injection mascara is pretty small, but I can't wait to try it out. Most people eiher love it or hate it, so I can't wait to see for myself. I put a bit on my thumb to check out the color. It's black, but it seems to be really chunky and dry. That's disappointing, but if it acts that way on my lashes, I'll definitely be complaining. The Pink Leopard bronzer is the item I'm most excited about. It was the deciding factor that made me purchase this set, and it seems to be worth the money. It's a lot bigger than it looks, about the size of a bar of soap or a pack of cigarettes. What the picture doesn't show is the adorable mirror on the inside lid that says "You look absolutely purrrfect!" underneath it. Very cute! And on top of it all, the make up came wrapped in bright pink tissue paper:)
I have to be honest--I was starting to regret buying this kit. UPS was taking FOREVER to ship it, and according to the online tracking website, the kit is still "in transit," although it's sitting on my bed :) When I got the box, it was really small and smashed in on one side, so I was worried that the products would be shattered or broken. My skepticism was shattered when I opened the box and saw how fabulous all of the products look. They are all in great shape and I can't wait to use them:)

1920s

So today I purchased a really cute cloche hat from Forever21. Unfortunately, they don't have any pictures of it on their website, besides on the collage ad on their home page (its the black one with the flower on the side). It inspired me to channel my inner 1920s girl, so here's an outfit I created with this inspiration.

I have a lot planned for this blog coming up, I just have to find the time to do it. I'm going to try a lot more vintage inspired looks, cover essential parts of winter wardrobes in different posts (ie coats, boots, tights, hats, scarves, etc), and do reviews of various products. Keep your eyes out! :)

It's Been A While

I've been sooo busy again that I haven't had a chance to write anything. College started, then my job started. Doesn't seem like much, but balancing school, homework, work, and a boyfriend doesn't leave me with much downtime.

So anyway, yesterday I made some purchases I'd like to share.

I had a coupon for Bath and Body Works where I got a free signature collection body care product with any purchase, plus all of the other non-signature collection products in the store were 2 for $20. I was looking for a good lotion, so I purchased their Grin And Bear It as well as their Bring Up The Rear, and received a Sheer Freesia signature collection lotion for free.

(Images from Bath and Body Works)

My boyfriend and I smelled literally every lotion in the store, and those were the ones we felt smelled the best.

The Bring Up The Rear is an anti-cellulite lotion, infused with caffeine. According to the directions, I'm supposed to see progress in 4-6 weeks if I vigorously massage the lotion onto the areas needed (in my case, my lower bottom and back upper thighs) twice a day. I'll let you know if I notice and difference. It smells yummy though:)

I also purchased some much needed make up. I used to be a make up maniac. I collected over $2000 worth of MAC products in the course of a year, and added to that collection regularly. That was back when I was a scene kid, so I experimented with every shade, trying different patterns. My signature look was thick eyeliner rimming my eyes, brought out to a cat's eye tail in the corner. I then laid a base coat of colored eyeliner to correspond with whatever color eyeshadow I would be wearing over my eyelid. I used two shades of the same color eye shadow-a lighter shade in for the inside half, and a darker shade for the outside half, blended together and topped with mascara of course. Here's a picture of another look I dd often:

Anyways, my point is, I wore soo much make up every day, that it shocked people when I started wearing only mascara. I decided to amp up my look a bit and order some basic necessities to replace me old make up. I'm not going back to my old look, no way no how, but I'm hoping to update my look a bit more.
In honor of my decision, I decided to invest in some make up.

Safari Sexy Kit by Too Faced, exclusive at Ulta.com. Regular price $34, I had a coupon code that brought it down to $27.
This kit includes "full size lava gloss eye liner, full size mood swing lipgloss, mini pink leopard bronzer, mini flatbuki, full size eyeshadow duo in totally toasted, deluxe shadow insurane, deluxe lash injection mascara."
It claims to be a $110 value, but I tried to make it myself using the same products in the bag, and just with the eye liner, the bronzer, and the mascara it was $96, so I think it has a higher value. I also tried combining the same products, but I only used generally cheaper brands to see if I could make the combo myself for a cheaper price, but this too was impossible. This is really a great deal, and I'll let you know how the products work when I get them.

I have a problem with eyelash curlers. Every single one I've every had has either torn out my eyelashes (verrrry painful!) or clipped them short into what I call "stubbies." Like the curlers literally trim my eyelashes too short. Does anyone else have this problem? Anyway, I found one from Sephora that I enjoyed, and I received a coupon code in my email for a delux sample with any purchase.
Here's the eyelash curler I purchased for $15:

And here's the Lorac blush/bronzer duo I requested as a delux sample:

I planned on buying blush, so I was very happy when I found out I could get some for free. Anyone else love free stuff? :) (Both images above from Sephora)

Busy Bee

I've been sooo busy lately and I haven't had a chance to even log in, so I'll just post a quick update:)

I got a chance to work at Forever21 for two days as a temp. detailer to help them get ready to open the new store. Worst job ever! I swear I will never work in retail again. My job as a detailer was to go around and make sure all the tags and plastic hanger reinforcements were tucked away and not visible, make sure all the folded and hung clothes lined up properly, make sure all the sleeves were straight, make sure all the hangers were one index finger space apart, and to make sure all the belts were looped and tied properly. 18 and a half hours of that sucks! But I needed the extra money since my car needed $1100 worth of work:/

Then today I went to Warped Tour. It was fun. Not going to elaborate on that. It was Warped Tour, how much can you say? If you've been, then you know what its about.

Tonight a few friends and I are meeting up to wait in line for the grand opening of Forever21 to get gift cards.

School starts Monday.

I'm so busy! I haven't slept more than 5 hours in quite a few days.

About Me

I found this on a fellow blogger's page, and I thought it sounded fun:)

What is your favorite item of clothing?
Definitely my denim shorts. I wear them every day I can. They're a staple in my wardrobe and I own a bunch of pairs! Mostly from Hollister, because its hard for me to find bottoms that fit my body. I'm a size 5, because I'm really wide, but my tummy is thin. I'm like a flounder lol:) But I also have tiny thighs, so my body is oddly shaped.

What are your biggest obsessions?
Blueberries, mani/pedis, shopping, and my boyfriend. My kitty too :)

Who inspires you?
Ready for the cheesiness? Here it goes! I'm going to have to say my boyfriend. He's incredibly talented and does what he loves with a level head. It's easy to get corrupted with music, whether its with drugs and alcohol, or becoming money or power hungry. He's managed to stick with playing drums for what, 6 or 7 years? without getting caught up in any of this, and he's really good at it. I'm a bit biased, but he's known for his talent. He has also been through so much shit in his life, and still keeps on truckin with his head held high in a positive manner. As many of the people who know me know that I had a really bad temper. With his help, he has helped me become more patient and understanding which has toned down my temper to the extreme.

What is your favorite store?
Forever21. Cheap, fashionable, and fun. Thank the lord they just opened up one close to my house, and another one is on the way.

What is your favorite song ever?
I don't think I can pin it down to just one song. Bright Eyes is definitely my all time favorite band. After 5 or so years, I'm still not sick of him:) Maybe my favorite song is "Laura Laurent," by Bright Eyes of course.

What's your favorite film?
"The Emporer's New Groove" or "Muppet Treasure Island."

Who's your favorite actor?
I don't have one actually. I'm pretty apathetic when it comes to people in movies, as long as the movie is enjoyable.

If you could be anywhere in the world right now, where would you be?
Greece. It's the first place I'd visit if I had the chance.

What are your 3 favorite foods/meals?
Fruit tops my list. I love every kind of fruit! Pizza and sandwiches definitely follow after fruit. Cheese pizza and turkey sandwiches, to be exact:)

What is your most treasured possession?
My bed. I sleep to deal with my problems. And it's so comfy!

What did you always want to be/ do when you grew up?
I've always wanted to be a teacher. My mom is a teacher, so ever since I can remember I have been in her classroom teaching a fake class when I was younger, or helping out her students, grading papers, or setting up desks and bulletin boards more recently. Teaching is in my nature! Other than that, I wanted to be a ballet teacher (would still love to, but too bad I quit), President, marine biologist (too afraid of sharks), or a lawyer.

If you were an ice-cream what flavor would you be?
Chocolllllaaaattteeee! I love chocolate anything!

If someone made a short film of your life, who would play you?
I would play me. Unless I was dead, but in that case most of the present day actresses would be dead too, so I can't say.

What would your perfect afternoon consist of?
Sleep, the beach, tasty sandwiches, and chocolate covered strawberries with my man. So a nap on the beach, followed by a picnic and desert date.

If you were a flower, what would you be?
A rose. Hey, give me a break. It's 4:15 am and Rose is my middle name. Not the most creative, but it works.

Making Progress

I haven't posted in a while. I think it's because I've been so busy. But then again, I haven't really been that busy. I guess it's just the last thing on my mind right now. I have a lot going on at the moment- friends moving away, school starting up soon, my A/C in my car going out (which I can't afford to fix but I have to, or else I might get heat exhaustion during the 30 minute rides from home to school, or home to Andrew's house:/) Warped Tour coming up soon, Forever21 opening 2 new locations in a 30 mile radius from my house, and plenty of other things.

I'll be happy to let you know that I have made progress with my spending. I took back everything that I ordered online from Urban Outfitters except the belt. I also returned everything except the thank you noted I impulse bought from Ross recently (random place to impulse shop, right?). Both places replaced $60 into my bank account. $60 I shouldn't have spent. If this was a month ago, I would have kept everything, but I'm realizing that I don't NEED to have everything I like.

I also went school clothes shopping and only spent $90. I returned $60 worth of merch to Urban Outfitters, and then bought my friend birthday gifts with the remained $30 that was unaccounted for. I only bought 2 pairs of jeans from Wet Seal (they were buy one get one 50% off, plus get $5 off every $25 spent), a beret and a tank from H&M totalling under $20, and a tank from Pac Sun for $7. I'm getting much better at bargain shopping :)

At 2:30 am yesterday morning, my friend and I went to wait in line for the grand opening of Forever21. The people who were first in line got there at midnight and were sleeping most of the time! Forever21 was giving out gift cards to the first 400 people, with a value between $10-$210. My friend and I vowed to combine and split the total value of both of our gift cards. Luckily we each got $20, so that wasn't necessary:) I'm so excited about the opening of Forever21 in the old Gottschalks stores. The Forever21 in my mall is in the largest anchor store of the entire mall, adorably decorated with colorful walls and including every subline that Forever21 produces. They were smart enough to put a dressing room in each secation, sometimes having more than one per wall. I bought $14 over my $20 store credit. I started out with about $200 in products and narrowed it down. Here's what I bought: (All images from Forever21)

And one more cami I couldn't find online that has a beautiful lace back detail.

I had some other stuff typed about an article I read that I would like to feature, but my computer decided to restart itself without my permission, so I lost about 3 paragraphs. Maybe when I'm a little less pissed off I'll retype it. Who the fuck do you think you are, Vista? I hate you more than anything.
Bye.
